August 30, Day 2: Science Classroom Agenda

Homeroom:

  • collect and record any combinations
  • collect emergency cards and record
  • Returning from lunch - do not use grade six hallway.  Go through grade 7 please.
  • Return to homeroom for WIN today.

Grade 7 Agenda:

Homework: Flashcards for metric prefixes and units (11 total) due tomorrow

  • Flash cards for metric prefixes. (prefix on one side, numerical value, name, and abbreviation on the reverse side.

  • Flash cards for properties. (property name on one side, base unit name and abbreviation on reverse side)

Check for necessary class materials (agenda, notebook, utensils, homework)

Collect homework for a check.

Explain homework expectations, grading, etc.

SLANT: Metric System Basics Review

  • metric is the universal system of measurement
  • it is the only system we will use in science
  • prefixes are used to represent numerical place value.
    • - 10's, 100's, 0.1's, etc.
  • they are combined with units to make small and large units of measure
    • - kilometer
    • - deciliter
  • Metric prefixes, numerical values, abbreviations
  • Create table and fill in
  • Basic units of measurement
  • 5 common properties: names and units
  • Flashcard samples.

Work on flash cards. Individualized assistance and check-ins.
