Summarize in your notebook responses to items 1, through 4 above.  This is to be on a formally prepared HW using TTQA and fully developed responses.

Experimentation with magnetism:

SLANT:

Model how a compass may be used for measurement of a magnetic field.

Student groups to formulate two experimental questions that must address the following:

  • understanding factors affecting the strength, properties, and nature of a magnetic field.

Designing your investigation:

  1. Identify a manipulated and responding variable.

  2. Identify controls.

  3. Summarize a methodology.

  4. Indicate what quantitative data you will collect that will answer your question.

  5. Seek approval from me before proceeding.

By end of class, each group must:

  • conference with me.

  • gain approval of their experimental questions.
