First Day of School

 

Welcome!

HOMEROOM 8:10 TO 8:25:

1.      Collect tissues and supplies, store.

2.      Hand out Agenda Books

3.      Hand out student class assignments.

4.      Hand out blank schedules.

5.      Your first class today is Related Arts - go to the Gymnasium

6.      Bring a pencil and your schedules gym for R/A scheduling and a chance to talk with our new principal and assistant principal

7.      You may leave your bags here today.  Please pack them up neatly and tuck in your chair. (This will be the last time this is permitted this year.)

8.      After R/A, go to the first class listed on your class assignment sheet.

9.      Return here to Homeroom for WIN block (10:48)

10.  Dismiss to R/A at 8:25

I use hanging file folders for passing back work when you are absent.

The filing cabinet has a drawer for your grade level.

Names are arranged alphabetically.

Maintaining and checking your folder (after an absence) is your responsibility.

Make Tabs

You will be grouped with five peers Each group receives

(1) index card

(1) pair of scissors

(1) ruler

(1) sample folder tab - which is to be returned undamaged at the end of the exercise

Using these materials, the group has five minutes to:

produce five exact copies of the sample tab

each student write their first and last name neatly on 1 copy of the tab in black

decorate as time permits

Return all materials to their designated spots in a neat and professional manner.

Recycle waste.

Sea levels are rising because of climate change.  Humans are warming the climate by burning fossil fuels and emitting carbon dioxide that warms the planet.

Use the internet to look up carbon dioxide emissions by nation and find a graph or table that summarizes the information. Then respond to the following:

 

  1. Who is responsible for what is happening to the people of Tuvalu? 

    • Paste your graph or table in support of your response.

  2. Do you bear any personal responsibility for what is happening to the people of Tuvalu? If not, does anyone else bear personal responsibility?

  3. What can you do in support of the people of Tuvalu? Are you willing to do it? Why or why not.
