Name it: Melting and Boiling Point Lab - YourLastName, FirstName
Make a table with":
3 columns
37 rows
In the first row, add column Labels
Label column A: Time (minutes)
Label columns B: Temperature (deg. C)
Label Column C: Observations
Add numbers to the Time column, starting at “0” and counting up to “35”
Center text for all labels and data cells.
Add borders around your table.
Attach your spreadsheet table to the Google Classroom: Melting and Boiling Point Lab
turn it in.

Chemistry Notes: Physical properties 10/4/2023
physical property - a characteristic that you can observe or measure without changing the identity of the matter.
State - solid, liquid, gas
during changes of state, particle motion changes but the substance remains the same.
type of atoms not changed
molecules/chemical formulas not changed
Mass - amount of matter an object contains
volume - amount of space an object occupies
melting point - temperature at which a solid turns to a liquid
boiling point - temperature at which a liquid turns to a gas
density - ratio of mass per unit of volume of a substance
conductivity - how well a substance can conduct (conduct (carry along) electricty/heat
electrical conductivity
thermal conductivity
solubility - the ability of one substance (solute) to dissolve in another (solvent)
magnetism - a force of attraction between certain metals
Some properties are size dependent.
The measurement varies with the amount of matter
mass, volume, dimensions of size
these are properties of objects, not substances
